**To retrieve history for an alarm**

The following example uses the ``describe-alarm-history`` command to retrieve history for the Amazon
CloudWatch alarm named "myalarm"::

  aws cloudwatch describe-alarm-history --alarm-name "myalarm" --history-item-type StateUpdate
